Intro to Citizen Science Hike

  • Old Chapel Hill Road Park 3791 Southwest Durham Drive Durham, NC, 27707 United States (map)

Join the Durham County Open Space Program at the New Hope Creek Bottomlands Trail for an introduction to citizen science! During this two hour, two-mile hike, we’ll discuss the role of citizen science in local conservation efforts, practice using popular citizen science apps like iNaturalist, and participate in the 2023 Durham BioBlitz.

We recommend downloading the free app iNaturalist on your smartphone prior to this event. It may also be helpful to download eBird and Merlin Bird ID, both of which are also free. Finally, come prepared to get muddy! We’ll be hiking in a floodplain.

For questions, contact David Bradley, Open Space Specialist, at (919) 560-0093 or dabradley@dconc.gov.

We hope to see you there!
