Invasive Plant Removal at Forest Hills Park and Third Fork Creek

  • Forest Hills Park 1639 University Drive Durham, NC, 27707 United States (map)

Join us to help remove invasive vines and shrubs from Forest Hills Park and Third Fork Creek stream banks on Saturday August 27 from 9-11 am. Third Fork Creek is an important Durham waterway flowing through Forest Hills Park all the way to Jordan Lake.

Volunteers will meet the Forest Hills Neighborhood Association volunteers for supplies and instructions. Meet on E. Forest Hills Blvd at the between Beverly Drive and Compton Place .

Invasive plants will be primarily privet, wisteria, kudzu and English Ivy. There is not significant poison Ivy at this location.

Gloves and pruning tools will be provided by Keep Durham Beautiful, but please feel free to bring your own. Please help us reduce waste by bringing your own reusable water bottle. Wear sturdy shoes or boots, long pants, and dress for the weather. Because sharp pruning tools are involved, this is a project better for adults and older youth.

Please email on site Coordinator – Dwight Koeberl - to confirm participation.
