Join Keep Durham Beautiful for a day of service as a tribute to those killed and injured on 9/11, and to the many brave individuals who responded in service. Help beautify Durham and protect the health of our watersheds by removing litter from a local park OR weeding and spreading mulch at a recent tree planting.
Volunteers for sustainable tree care at Southern High School should enter the school through the Freeman Road entrance.
Volunteers will join KDB and our partners New Hope Audubon Society in caring for some recently planted and some established bird-friendly trees and shrubs, a project supported by Burt's Bees Foundation. Activities will include weeding, mulching, pruning and general tree care. KDB will provide mulch, mulching tools, wheelbarrows, gloves and pruners. KDB staff will greet volunteers at each site with supplies.
Please wear long pants and sturdy, closed toe shoes or boots. Dress for the weather, including a hat, and bring your own water bottle to help us reduce waste at our events.
