Friends of Geer Cemetery Cleanup/Workshop

  • Geer Cemetery 800 Colonial Street Durham, NC, 27701 United States (map)

Join The Friends of Geer Cemetery for their cleanup and workshop events! Find all the details below.

Cleanup:

The spring Keep Durham Beautiful cleanup was cancelled and during the last meeting we discussed how to continue the effort and stay within the boundaries inflicted by the pandemic.  This coming Saturday will be a Friends of Geer Cemetery clean-up with a focus. The focus is cutting the vines growing on the trees. We are looking for volunteers to help. If you can  spare an 1 hour on Saturday to assist, that will be fantastic. To avoid as much heat as possible, the cleanup time will be 8 am - 10 am. To ensure safe social distancing, please complete the Google Form to let us know what time you can assist. If there are too many people at one time, we'll let  you know.  We are asking each person to bring their own clipper to cut the vines and gloves. Please bring and wear your mask for other people's safety.

Meeting:

June 18th is our regular meeting via an online conference. The meeting starts at 6:30 pm.  This will be a short meeting and end at 7 pm.  Immediately following the meeting is a research workshop that was initially scheduled for the February meeting. Anyone who is interested in assisting with researching people in the cemetery should attend. This is the first of several workshops on researching and documenting the lives of people buried in Geer Cemetery. The workshop ends at 8 pm. The Google Form used to register for the clean-up can also be used for the workshop registration.
