This past fall, a large area of litter was discovered near the Mountain-to-Sea Trail and Falls Lake just off of Redwood Road. The litter has been collecting in this area in very large quantities and we are committed to getting it all cleaned up!

In November, we had two large cleanup events that resulted in nearly 500 bags of litter plus many tires and other miscellaneous bulky items. Now we need to get those items to the landfill or recycling center. Please join us on Sunday afternoon to assist with taking the bags from the shoreline to Redwood Road via trucks, UTVs and trailers. Volunteer positions include loading the bags onto the vehicles and unloading at the road. Once at the road, bags will be taken by Durham County to be properly disposed.

Gloves and safety vests will be provided. Please wear sturdy shoes or boots, long pants, and dress in layers for the weather. This is going to be a fun and impactful event and will be a great way to get involved in keeping Durham beautiful.
