Members of the community are invited to join Friends of Geer Cemetery and Keep Durham Beautiful volunteers in celebration of Earth Day 2020 by picking up limbs, cutting vines, and removing litter in this historic cemetery.

This cemetery holds a rich history as the only African American cemetery for Durham from 1876 to 1942 and is the final resting place for more than 1,500 people. You can learn more about its history at Friends of Geer Cemetery.

We will provide all tools and safety equipment. All ages are welcome, those under 18 should be accompanied by an adult.
