Tree Planting at Pearsontown Elementary

  • Pearsontown Elementary School 4915 Barbee Road Durham, NC, 27713 United States (map)

Please join Keep Durham Beautiful and TreesDurham on October 19, 2019 from 2-4PM and help plant trees at Durham Public School’s Year-round Pearsontown Elementary in South Durham.

Planting trees on the school grounds and playgrounds of Pearsontown is particularly important because the school year there starts in mid-July and kindergartners through 5th  graders, teachers, staff, and after-school kids are out on the playground during the hottest parts of the summer.  The shade from the trees will help provide relief from the heat, protection from harmful sun exposure, cleaner air, and much beauty! In addition, the trees will provide students with an opportunity for learning about the environment and serve as gathering spots at outdoor school events such as kindergarten graduation and International Night.

Training in tree planting, shovels, and gloves will be provided. However, if you have an extra shovel to bring along, that would be great! Please dress for the weather, wear sturdy shoes, and bring water! People of all ages are welcome.

REGISTER HERE FOR TREE PLANTING!!

This planting will directly follow our Tree Keeper Planting Workshop. If you are interested in learning how to be a tree planting leader, please consider joining us one hour early to attend this free workshop. You can register for the workshop here!
