Rescheduled Event: Join us for our second tree planting of the season! We'll be planting alongside our friends from TreesDurham, Durham Rotary, Durham Community Land Trust, Duke Energy, and Leaf & Limb, as well as with the City of Durham in the Southside Neighborhood.
Meet at the corner of E. Piedmont Ave. and Scout Dr. at 11 am. Dress for the weather and bring a water bottle. Tools will be provided, but you are encouraged to bring your own shovel and gloves if you have them! Parking will be along neighborhood streets in any legal spaces.
We will plant close to 100 trees across the Southside neighborhood, bringing much needed shade and clear air to the community.
Join us at 11 am for snacks and coffee, when Mayor Schewel will speak on the importance of trees and Duke Energy will talk about their commitment to support community tree planting through their generous $100k grant. After that, we head out to plant!
Duke Energy Grant Brings Trees to Durham, with an Eye on Equity
TreesDurham and Keep Durham Beautiful are the grateful recipients of a $100,000 grant from Duke Energy. The two organizations, already close partners in tree planting, will use these funds to increase environmental justice, improve the health of residents, and enhance sustainability across Durham through tree planting, education, and advocacy.
