Join the Ellerbe Creek Watershed Association for a workday in the Pearl Mill Bioretention area on Friday, March 22nd, from 9am-12pm. The address for navigation is 700 W Markham Ave, Durham, NC 27701. Park along Rand St (bioretention side), Green St, or Markham Ave
Tasks may include:
removing sediment/debris from bioretention cell floor
adding 3" of mulch to bioretention cell floor (~1,965 sqft)
scooping sediment out of forebays
trimming plants
removing trash
potentially: removing gravel from storm drains (inlets) and brainstorming how to remove gravel from pipes that channel water from the drains to the bioretention
potentially: puting native seed mix on the banks
Tools will be provided, but please bring gloves and wear long pants, sleeves, sunscreen, etc. All of the normal things you would wear for working outside.
