Arbor Day Tree Planting 2023

SATURDAY, MARCH 25 FROM 10AM-NOON. ALL AGES WELCOME.

Join Keep Durham Beautiful (KDB), City of Durham Urban Forestry and Duke Carbon Offsets Initiative (DCOI) to plant trees between Hillside Park and Shepard Middle School on Saturday, March 25th from 10am to 12pm. Please arrive at 9:30 for sign-in and supply distribution.

MARCH 25th PROJECT:

We will plant 51 new street trees, sponsored by Duke Carbon Offsets Initiative. The trees are selected by City of Durham Urban Forestry in line with their Urban Forest Management Plan. We will also apply mulch to new and recently planted trees, and install tree guards and stakes where needed.

Please register below to reserve a spot and so that we can communicate event details to you.

MEETING & PARKING:

We will meet at the corner of Red Oak Avenue and Dakota Street. Please park at Shepard Middle School, 2501 Dakota Street.

WHAT TO WEAR & BRING:

Please wear sturdy shoes or boots that can get muddy. Dress in layers for the weather. Bring a refillable water bottle, small backpack for carrying personal items, a hat and sunscreen.

KDB will provide shovels, gloves and other tools. If you choose to bring your own shovel or other tools, please label them.
