Durham’s streams lead to two major regional drinking water sources: Falls Lake and Jordan Lake. Do we really want litter in the water we drink?

KDB partners with the City of Durham Public Works Department Storm Water & GIS Services for the Stream Adoption program.  This program provides opportunities for Durham residents to help protect our waterways from pollution that threatens drinking water quality, aquatic life, and the recreational value of our streams and lakes.

There are three levels of adoption that allow for a range of participation, depending on your interest and time availability. Look at the Stream Adoption Details to learn exactly how you can help care for a stream. A two-year commitment is required. Group size and stream length will vary.
