Colonial Village Workday

Colonial Village Neighborhood Association planned a workday to improve the appearance and lessen the litter on East Club Boulevard, which runs through their neighborhood. A group of students from Duke Divinity School turned out to help and a good time was had by all!

Two volunteers pickup litter from the side of the street.

One resident focuses on picking up cigarette butts, a serious problem on this busy street.

Leaves and brush left on the side of the road often blows into the road obstructing traffic and leaving the area looking unkempt. Local residents pack it into bags for transport to the City yard waste facility.

Assisting a local resident mow the City owned Right of Way in front of her house was a kind gesture by her neighbors.

Just a few of the bags of litter collected along the way. A total of 25 bags were picked up this day, on less than two miles of road.

6 happy smiling Divinity School students wearing safety vests and carrying garbage bags full of litter hold their brightly colored litter grabbers like swords, challenging residents to join them in their fight to keep our city streets clean.
