Every year Little River Elementary School holds a science day for their students. Speakers from a huge range of organizations come in and teach short lessons on a varied array of subjects. Keep Durham Beautiful has been honored with participation for the last two years. In 2006 staff and a parent volunteer presented a lesson on recycling and first grade students worked to find complete sets of �??Recycle Guys�?� cards that they were able to take home. In 2007 staff and a parent volunteer presented a �??moving book�?� of The Wartville Wizard by Don Madden to Kindergarten students. This program deals with litter and Keep Durham Beautiful will soon made it available to every elementary school library in the County.
